That makes no sense. Also I have to correct myself, CTW is now called Sesame Workshop. Here you'll see an album of Sesame Street skits and songs released in 1971 -[link] As you can see it's titled The Muppet Alphabet album and you'll clearly see that on the front it says "Starring Jim Henson's muppets" Disney owns the name now so any puppets coming out of the Henson workshop now can't be called Muppets.
You have proof. And now I feel like disney has almost ruined everything I love. I mean Muppets arn't Muppets anymore!? What the fuck! Oh well jim henson should be proud knowing the run he had with the muppets.
Well Disney has been trying to get the Muppets back in the public eye again. I simply like that they're trying. Of course all the web stuff and TV appearances were building up the movie released a month ago. Hopefully we can see them more often. I'm glad that they don't have their hands on the Sesame Street Muppets though. It's enough to see Kermit cozy up to the Mouse, we don't need to see Grover do it also. Although this means they most likely won't appear together again as they did in the 70's and 80's. No more Big Bird cameos in future Muppet TV specials and movies.
Well it's strange. Both Sesame Workshop and Disney can use the Muppet name but have nothing to do with one another. Disney doesn't meddle in Sesame affairs and vice versa. Henson still owns Fraggle Rock and I believe that they can still be called Muppets also.
Ugh, that reminds me of a skit that made me cry as a little kid. It was the one where Grover jammed a set of false teeth into Kermit's mouth and then Kermit chased Grover around the room, chomping at him.
